What is an NFT? And what types of non-fungible tokens can you encounter on a marketplace? An NFT is a completely unique file on the blockchain. It's different from cryptocurrency: if you have one bitcoin, you could basically exchange it for someone else's bitcoin. Both bitcoins are fungible. Neither side will get any better or worse from this. It is different with an NFT: you cannot exchange one NFT for another. An NFT is a unique encrypted file that exists on the blockchain. Everyone can therefore see where the file has been: who owned it, who bought it, how much was paid at the time, etc. Whoever buys an NFT on a platform therefore has a unique file in his hands.
